Frontera

Contributing to taking care of environment

At Frontera we understand that the environment belongs to all of us; we are aware that we have the responsibility to take actions that contribute to a more sustainable future.

One of them is the construction of a solar park in the CPE-6 block, located in Meta, to reduce emissions. With this project, the company seeks to achieve a reduction in CO2 emissions

On the other hand, we are implementing the SAARA project, the largest water treatment plant in the world associated with an oil project, as part of our commitment based on a circular economy model.

At SAARA we treat the water from the Rubiales field of Ecopetrol and the Quifa field of Frontera to bring it to the highest standard for the irrigation of an existing (non-food) oil palm crop of more than 3,000 hectares. Contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint.

Finally, we joined the ‘One Trillion Trees – 1t.org’ movement launched by the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in January 2020, with the global goal of conserving, restoring and planting one trillion trees by 2030.

We pledged to preserve and restore 2,500 hectares of biological corridors in environmentally strategic areas in the territories where we operate by 2027, which would be equivalent to approximately 2.6 million trees, contributing to the fight against deforestation.
